we played our first ever US show last night in brooklyn with hot box, soft circle and no age. it was above a garage. todd p looked after us VERY well. soft circle with added guitarist were amazing. the kids went CRAZY to no age, who were incredible. stage divers riding the stormy mosh sea like i've never seen before. all ages shows are the best. we were very lucky to be a part of it.

the real highlight of the day though was being with big lion for his birthday

the saturday before last it rained insanely for about 30 minutes... our road flooded and one of the outlets turned out to be robin's bedroom window.

water poured through it until it stopped raining and the drain cleared. all of robin's room was under water. my heart went out to him and all the records and books he lost. if you see him, then give him money so he can replace the important stuff.

total SUXVILLE...

i went to see lyam after work today. he wanted to go over the outline of the first tattoo he gave me about a year and a half ago. as i was sat in his room i saw a roll of kitchen paper which had amazing drawings printed on it.

i got him to tattoo one of those drawing while he was at it.

it's my new favourite. thanks l-dog. you rule.

on my birthday i worked.

noreen gave me the jesus lizard / nirvana split 7" from her collection as a present. blue vinyl - original pressing. blown away by her kindness. it's currently on display in my room.

i felt sick all day long

at home male bonding had a quick rehearsal in robin's room.

we can't afford practice spaces anymore.

it worked out good.

after practice we went to meet nathan and ben in the pub.

and the we went to see health play at the dome.
i've seen that band play a lot, but that night something magical happened. it was insane. i can't even begin to try to figure it out.

after the show everyone came back for birthday drinks. oh boy - sorry neighbours. first a band practice, and now a party...

this guy is jake friedman owner of lovepump united records. if you see him, stop him and tell him how amazing he is. he should know.

kc and his girlfriend actually got the same flight over from LA that health caught. they ended up sat next to eat other on the plane. then a few days later, they sat on rick's old sofa and caught up like old friends.

seattle was fun. it always is. we got to stay at robert's again, which is the ONLY place to stay in seattle.

we slept for maybe 2 hrs then went to get our flight home, only to discover that we got the dates mixed up and were a day early... $450 later, we finally got on a flight.

tired isn't the word... it's gone way beyond that.

being home is odd. lying on my bed was a mistake. maybe leaving america was also a mistake....

tuesday 31st march

santa cruz today. we went to the beach first then went and drank margaritas. the lost boys was filmed on this beach around around the area.

so we play at a crepe house tonight. we got free crepes - mine wasn't that nice... still on the margaritas...

the show was wild. the sound dude asked us to calm down half way through our set cos the kids were going a little crazy. they went even crazier for the mae shi - or maybe for jacob in his vest.

so we stayed at the promoters old flat which was still empty. we drank more and bonded. i woke up to jacob wearing this brad pit jumper. cute

wednesday 1st april
it's my birthday this month. i turn 30. ouch.

me and jacob went for an early morning walk along the beach. we talk about tons of stuff. past and present. i'm so excited for the future right now, and it's all because of the people i've met on this trip.

so off to chico.

friday 27th march

this is the best tour / holiday i'm ever going to be apart of. we've been playing shows every night for the last 2 and a half weeks, but we still find time to do cool things during the days.

jacob, bill, keex, hendo, me, jeff, john and fun bobby. so much love and so little space.

today we play in oakland, SF. we were up early as the mae shi had an instore at amobea first.

we got to sit out back and eat pizza

i went to a tattoo parlor.

we hooked up with vice cooler who lives in oakland. we are going to be seeing a lot of him over the next few days. he's a pretty amazing guy.

the show in the evening was cool. past lives played with us again. they are such nice people.

saturday 28th march:

we hang with vice in the morning and then go to Visalia, where we are going to be playing a pizza parlor called howie and sons. it's kinda freaky. loads of kids running aroung. it has a pizza hut vibe to it.

and we are sat eating free pizza, bills girlfriend sheena and gina turn up out of no where. they have driven up from LA to hang out with us for the next 2 shows. this is amazing news!

our show is really bad, but still fun. i don't get bummed out anymore about playing badly. we are all having so much fun at the moment. that's all that matters. when we suck all i have to do is look at robin all sweaty and full of smiles, and it instantly cheers me up.

sunday 29th

back to san fran today to play what turns out to be an insane punk warehouse show, but before that we stop off at john's aunts to swim in her pool and eat an amazing lunch. the gray's are an amazing bunch of people. so kind.

it's bills birthday today. i bought him these flowers for $1:

so the show tonite was insane. vice played with the mae shi:

the kids went crazy. after the show we went back to these kids house. one of them got a hand punched PRE tattoo. that was pretty dumb.

i left at that point. kev and akiko kept the pre flame burning and partied the night away.

mon 30th march

i stayed the night at jeff mae shi's brothers house with bill, sheena and gina (he started the mae shi back in the day. now he's training to be a lawyer.) he's so nice. robin stayed at vice's house and kev and keex stayed at the party. at around midday everyone came over to tim's for waffles. we cancelled a live radio session today so we could al hang out at tim's and then at the park.

also it was robins BIRTHDAY! tiffany bought him a cake:

we bought all the ingredients to make margaritas. fun bobby (robin) loves margaritas.

we drank these monsters in the van. i got a little too drunk. sorry guys...

after the show we drove back to vice's once more. he's looked after us so well. 11 people ended staying at his last night. including david scott stone who is down from LA.

today we play Santa Cruz - Crepe Place.

in the morning at vice's, keex took some photos of male bonding. appartently we are going to be in the nme, and they need a band shot asap. yikes...

the show in the crepe place was really fun. we got really drunk. fun bobby went INSANE!

thursday morning at mae shi mansion was dedicated to "crafts".

me and john shi spent the morning tye dying tees. it was a lot of fun.

after crafts john made amazing mexican for everyone. all the girls came over and some dudes also.

then we went over to play the smell for the second time. the show was sold out again.

foot village played second and me kev and robin played on their last song.

calib from old blood came to say hi. so did the rapid youth kids. it was so nice to meet these people at last.

santa barbara

our national lampoons style holiday continues today. music comes second these days. life right now is all about the sun and sea. we've been in LA for a couple of days now. playing the smell tonite for the second time. ezra is going to sing with the mae shi. excited to go back to the gay mexican bar next door. that place is incredible.

yesterday we went to santa barbara in the morning to go thrifting. here's what everyone purchased:

ROBIN - red tanktop / brogues
KEVIN - framed and signed photo of george and laura bush / 2 pairs of highly dubious shoes (his words)/ yacht tote bag / chilli pepper tote bag.
KEEX - crazy coat / tweetie pie tee / dinosaur skin jumper
ME - lacoste rain coat for rainy cycles / happy days style shirt / black tee

jeff mae shi lost his mobile, bill bought an amazing cardigan and john bought a tape recorder. bill also got called a FAG in the street.

after the thrfits we went to ventura pier beach. me, robin, kev and john shi all went in the ocean. it was colder than san diego, but was so much fun. LOVE swimming in the ocean.

after the beach we drove to the show - which turned out to be a house show. the homosexuals played as well. bruno is such a legend. it was so amazing getting to see them play in some kids house.

it was insane. our set was amazing. house shows are the best. i grabbed bruno during our last song, and we walked through the moshin kids sharing a microphone, ohhhhhhhhhing. the mae shi killed it. the best end to another perfect day.

after the show we drove back to la and sat up talking till 4am.

san diego

this is the best tour ever - we've been getting up early so we can go sight seeing on the way to the shows.

we drove from phoenix to san diego today.

desert. lots of it.

things got a little weird at passport control. we tend to confuse people.

when we got to SD we went to la jolla cove. lots of smelly sea lions, and dudes with soul patches.

we went swimming in the ocean and got knocked all over the place - it was so rough, but the best fun ever.

the show in SD was super funny. we threw beer and totally offended the crowd, then left REALLY quickly to drive back to LA.

i'm typing this whilst looking at the hollywood sign. the mae shi's brotel is amazing.

today we went for breakfast at a mexican place called MR NATURAL. it was amazing. japanther were sat on the table next to us. we haven't seen them in so long. they are the nicest. they asked us to tour with them in november. i hope that happens.

after lunch we set off for our first show of the day, which was a gorilla vs bear showcase with nite jewel at quacks bakery. they where running 2 hrs behind. we couldn't hang around as we had another show straight after this one across town, so we decided to ditch it and head to the second show. it's good to play as much as possible, but if one showcase is running late, then your whole sechedule gets knocked out.

the second show was a kinda round robin event for this shoe company called saucony. 4 outdoor stages and 4 bands all taking it in turns to play back to back - they called it FOUR SQUARE PUNKS. in the middle there was a roller skating ring. it's so nice playing shows outside. we haven't played a show inside yet.

we got free shoes:

after this show we went over to see mika miko. we sat in the sun and caught up with HEALTH and the vivian girls. after an hr of this me and robin went to get pizza and headed over to see finally punk play at this club next door to our apartment. elizabeth finally punk asked if we wanted to go and see devo - we did.

she drove us in her mum and dads car. it was at the austin music hall.

devo were amazing.

after devo we went to get donuts at ken's 24 hr donut place and then elizabeth took us to the bridge party. this was basically an illegal party on a bridge in a big park. it was amazing.

annihilation time played first!

HUGE circle pit. the whole bridge was bouncing.

vivian girls were up next. they had the best time, apart from ali who has a bridge phobia.

trash talk played last and things really went insane.
